Environmental Management System
The Environmental Management policy of Karsten has already been awarded four times with the Fritz Muller trophy. And this is more than a motive of pride for Karsten as it awakes a responsibility increasingly greater as regards the use of natural resources with sustainability and respect for biodiversity. Karsten has always sought to promote a higher quality of life, through both its products and its actions concerning environmental management. It was the pioneer among the textile companies in Santa Catarina to install an Effluent Treatment Station with a biological system, removing 100% of the chemical products.
The company itself obtains the water it consumes from the river Testo, in Blumenau, using, treating and returning it cleaner than when it was taken. Besides this, it controls and treats the water for human and industrial consumption, a process that is continually evolving. The gum used in manufacturing products is completely recycled. The solid industrial residue is collected, separated and sent to the appropriate place. And the atmospheric emission is constantly measured and controlled. For a considerable amount of time Karsten has helped to make people aware that a better world is built here and now.
